Charles Wayne Silkwood, 65, of Lizana, passed away with his loving wife by his side Monday morning, June 10, 2024 at St. Joseph Hospice is Gulfport. Charlie lived life by the seat of his pants, never a dull moment. At a young age he raced motorcycles and from there his passion went to racehorses, then came Go-Karts, and racecars. Once he retired back to racehorses which was his true love. He was a retired Jockey; he was also a retired fish hatchery manager for north Mississippi state fisheries and wildlife. He retired on June 30, 2020. He loved his family very much and provided a loving home and a happy life for his wife, children, and grandchildren. He will be truly missed by many. He is preceded in death by his mom, Doris Lynn Silkwood. Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 39 years, Cynthia Lee Silkwood; son, Dakota Wayne Silkwood; daughter, Sarah (Drew) Groner; two grandsons, Wyatt Lee Groner and Luke Charles Groner; father, Alton Silkwood; sister, Rachelle (Pete) Natale. Along with many loving sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews that thought he was the cool uncle because of his need for speed. In lieu of flowers he would like donations made to St. Jude, Wounded Warrior Project, permanently disabled jockeys fund. The family appreciates all the love and support they have been shown by everyone. A visitation will be held Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Saucier Missionary Baptist Church from 10:00am-11:00am with a service to follow at 11:00am. Trinity funeral Services is honored to serve the Silkwood family and asks that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

It´s been a very, very long time, Charlie. Since grammar school, junior high? Long time ago. Garld B and I were recently talking about you and wondered where you were. And I remember visiting with you when my dad would bring his hand saws to your grandfather for sharpening. God bless and comfort your family and loved ones during this time of pain and loss.
