James Fredric Silkwood, 71 of Springhill, Louisiana passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at his home.

James was born December 27, 1953, in Gulfport, Mississippi. James joined the military after graduating high school and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Navy and Army National Guard from 1971 to 1984. After his military service he worked for many years in the oil field and then worked for Bumper to Bumper Auto Parts until he retired.

James was a devoted husband, father and friend. He loved woodworking and watching western and military movies.

James is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Vernon Silkwood and Gladys Marilyn (German) Silkwood; a sister Denise L. Blodgett; brother Charles V. Silkwood; sisters in law, Betty Stacy and her husband Mike, and Kay Ruth and her husband Jim; and brothers in law, Larry Green and Robert McKamie.

James is survived by his wife of 43 years, Cynthia Ann (McKamie) Silkwood of Springhill, Louisiana; sons, James Kevin Silkwood and Jason Byrd both of Everett, Washington; sisters in law, Mary Catherine Green of Taylor, Sharon McKamie of Walkers Creek, Arkansas; 8 nephews, and numerous great nieces and nephews, and friends.

The family would especially like to thank Bristol Hospice staff and nurses for the love, comfort, care, and friendship given to our family.

Cremation services were provided by Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. in Magnolia.
