BRINKHAVEN- Charles Frank Smetana, 81, passed away Friday, May 23, 2025 at Ohio's Hospice LifeCare in Wooster.
He was born Feb. 13, 1944 in Cleveland to the late Charles and Margaret (Bartl) Smetana. After graduating high school, he became a certified electrician, and he worked at the former LTV Steel Mill until his retirement
Charles loved the outdoors, animals & nature, riding around in his Polaris, and music. He was a man of strong faith. He was a member of Tiverton Baptist Church, where he taught Bible Study for a time.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 61 years, Stella (Zawalna) Smetana, whom he married July 4, 1964; three sons, Gordon (Jennifer) Smetana, John Charles Smetana, and Christopher (Laura) Smetana; three grandchildren, Audri (John Corbin) Smetana, Micaihla Longo, and Maylee Longo; a great-grandson, J.J. Corbin; a brother, Alan (Brenda) Smetana; a sister, Cindy (Pete) Wilson; a former daughter-in-law, Michelle Czempinski; and several nieces & nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Mark Czempinski.
Funeral services will be held 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at Fischer Funeral Home in Danville, with Pastor Andrew Wolff officiating. Visitation is from 4:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Entombment will take place at a later date in Holy Cross Cemetery, Cleveland. FischerFuneralHome.com
