Charles Smith Obituary

Charles P. Smith, a revered member of the Louisville community, transitioned to eternal rest on October 27, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on February 26, 1934, in Cave City, Kentucky, Charles lived a life marked by dedication, faith, and family.

Charles enjoyed a distinguished career, retiring after 47 years of service as a Master Electrician at Corhart Factory. Throughout his years of employment, he was known for his exceptional skills and unwavering commitment to his work, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and friends.

A devoted family man, Charles held deep faith at the core of his life. He proudly served as a Deacon at Paynesville Community Church, where he dedicated himself to spreading the word of Jesus to anyone willing to listen. In every aspect of his life, Charles prioritized his devotion to God, his family, and his country, embodying principles of love and service.

Charles cherished moments spent golfing and bowling, enjoying the camaraderie it brought with family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy rooted in the love and care he bestowed upon his family. He is survived by his sons, Danny K. Smith (Carol) and Charles L. Smith (Michelle); his grandchildren, Chastity "Sis" Williamson (Bryan), Elizabeth Brasher (Jeremy), Joanie Smith, Scott Graham (Georgia), Danny Graham (Raegan), Matthew Smith (Lindsay), Rocky Smith (Sara), Charlie Smith (Samantha), and step-grandsons Charley Skaggs and Billy Skaggs; along with 26 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, and his sisters, Derenda (Paul) Jones and Joyce Hester. 

Charles was preceded in death by significant figures in his life, including his parents, Leonard and Ruby Smith; his beloved wife of 71 years, Dorothy May Scott Smith; brothers James, Clifton, and Mike Smith; sisters Leattia Huff and Martha Poynter; and granddaughter Angela Smith Jenkins, along with great-grandson Tyler Wayne Jenkins.

The visitation for Charles will be held on Wednesday, November 5th from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM, at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville, located at 10304 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40272.

Charles P. Smith's immense contributions to his family, community, and faith will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege to know him. His legacy of love and devotion will continue through the lives he touched.
