Charles Roy "Chuck" Snider Jr., 70, of Chapel Hill, NC died Tuesday, June 11, 2024 during an LVAD repair surgery, after battling with Congestive Heart Failure over the last 10 years.
Chuck was born September 1,1953 in Waynesburg, PA, the son of Charles Roy Snider, Sr. and Theodosha Eileen (Fluharty) Snider of DeFuniak Springs, FL.
After growing up in Baton Rouge, LA, he returned north to WV. He then married Sharon Lynn Oberle in 1973 and they resided in Pittsburgh, PA. After about 12 years he moved his family to Choconut, PA. They lived there about 10 years then moved to NC. Upon his retirement from IBM, he and Sharon moved to WV to be near their son Danny. Later when his heart problems became unresolveable (or end stage) he moved with Sharon to Chapel Hill, NC to take advantage of UNC's LVAD program and to be near his daughter Jackie and her family.
Chuck was an employee of IBM for over 40 + years. Chuck enjoyed music and had a passion for playing music with local groups and friends. He especially loved playing his pedal steel guitar. He loved spending time with family and friends, watching movies and tv, and enjoying food with the people he loved. He regretted not being able to travel later in life, due to his condition, so he could visit those friends and family he loved.
Chuck loved to be funny and tell a good joke and had a memorable laugh. He loved watching funny movies, Looney Tunes and Three Stooges with his kids. He loved his dog Tootsie and enjoyed the cats he adopted near the end. He made himself available to his family, listening or giving knowledge and advice when needed, and was a solid rock who was steady to lean on. Chuck was always glad to help others when he could, especially when using and teaching others how to fix things and do things.
Surviving are his father, Charles Roy Snider Sr of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; his wife, Sharon Lynn (Oberle) Snider; two daughters, Valerie Anne (Snider) Werle and husband Sascha Werle of Meshoppen, PA, Jacklyn Marie Snider (previously Tubel) of Chapel Hill, NC; daughter in law Elizabeth Cameron (Lee) Snider of Cary, NC; and seven grandchildren, Jakob Charles Werle, Benjamin John Werle, Jeffrey Daniel Werle, Lee Wildman Snider, Bauer Jayne Tubel, Ryleigh Danielle Tubel, and Caden Snider Tubel. A sister Julie Ann Snider of DeFuniak Springs, FL.
He was preceded in death by his mother Theodosha Eileen Snider and son Daniel Alan Snider.
No funeral or memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association.
