Charles Stahon

Charles Stefan Stahon (Chuck), 86, of Erie, PA, passed away on January 7, 2025, after a 21-year battle with metastatic prostate cancer. Chuck was born on February 9th, 1938, to Charles and Mary Stahon in Erie, PA.
After graduating from Academy High School in 1956, Chuck joined the Army and was part of the 1st Airborne Battle Group 502nd Infantry as a paratrooper. He was honorably discharged in 1961. Chuck then worked at GE and later opened The Erie Bicycle Shop from 1966-1992.
In 1967, he met Kathy (Defoy) Stahon, and they wed in 1968, going on to have three children, Ron, John, and Jennifer. After retiring in 1992, Chuck spent his time working for First Student driving school buses for Millcreek School District. Chuck enjoyed bicycling, woodworking, cooking, fishing, and taking care of his 11 grandchildren and animals.
Chuck is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Mary Stahon, sister Josie (Stahon) Engle, son Steven Stahon, and daughters Natalie and Susan Stahon. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Stahon; his 5 siblings, Ray Stahon, Jane (Stahon) Brown, Francis (Stahon) Runstedler, Margaret (Stahon) Bakke, Alice (Stahon) Orlando ; his three children, Ron Stahon, John (Michelle) Stahon, Jennifer (Josh) Makowski; his Nine grandchildren, Shawn Collins, Shannon Collins, Ryan Stahon, Erika (Terry) Sedney, Haley (Seth) Ruby, Emily Stahon, Grace Stahon, Owen and Leah Makowski; and his two great grandchildren Myles and Skyler Sedney.
Friends may call on Sunday at the Kloecker Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc from 1 pm until the time of the funeral service at 3:30 pm with the Rev. Michael Ferrick officiating. Send condolences to www.kloeckerfuneralhome.com
A memorial service and military sendoff will be held at a later date. The Stahon family would like to thank Roswell Cancer Institute, The Veterans Affair, Asera Care Hospice, and Dr. Tomczak for all of their kindness and care. A special thank you to Katie Bernatowic, the hospice nurse taking care of Chuck. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Roswell Cancer Institute or The Erie Humane Society.
