Charles William Stout, 92, of Johnston City, formerly of Port Charlotte, Florida, went home to be with his Lord and Savior at 2:50 p.m., Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Parkway Manor in Marion.
Charles was born on June 13, 1933, in Panama, Illinois to Charles "Otto" and Gladys (May) Stout. He was first united in marriage to Bettye Jean Kessler. She preceded him in death on August 18, 1961. He later married Bessie Ann Fields in 1966. They shared 52 years of marriage together, before she preceded him in death on June 16, 2018.
Charles was a 1950 graduate of Johnston City High School. He was honored to answer the call to serve his country in the United States Army as a Sergeant during the Korean War. Charles was proud to be a veteran that loved his county and the United States flag.
Upon returning home from the war, Charles continued his education at Southern Illinois University Carbondale where he obtained his bachelor's degree. He later went on to study ministry in Quincy, Illinois. He became an ordained minister in 1960 by the First Baptist Church. Charles loved the Lord and attended the United Pentecostal Church in Johnston City.
Charles was retired having been a big machine mechanic for many years. After retiring, he spent his time volunteering with the Salvation Army in Port Charlotte. During his time in Florida, he was also an active member of the VFW, Elks and Moose Lodge.
He is survived by his two daughters, Tammy (James) Bradford of Bonita Springs, FL and Anita Stout of Farmington, IA; one son, Chuck Stout; grandchildren, Bill Bradford, Iris Walters, Sydney Kuslock, Charles, Rodney, Cheston, Chris Monroe and Zachary Stout; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two wives, Bettye (Kessler) Stout and Bessie Ann (Fields) Stout; son, Kirk Aaron Stout; daughter, Anna Marie Stout; several brothers, Llyod, Francis, Wesley, and Gerald Stout; several sisters, Hazel Braudmeier, Dorothy Walsh, and Charlotte Phipps.
A celebration of life service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, July 5, 2025, at the United Pentecostal Church in Johnston City with Pastor Brandon Abernathy officiating. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Saturday, July 5, 2025, at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to JCUPC. Envelopes will be available at the church on the day of service.

I loved Charles as my own dad. Anna and I were best friends. I'm sorry to hear of this. I called him today Anna's birthday as I always did. I last spoke to him on Memorial Day. I'll miss you Pops. Love you. Debbie
