Charles Leonard TenEyck, referred to as "Chuck" by most all who knew him, was born to Charles TenEyck and Dorothy (TenEyck) Wolf in Minneapolis, MN, on August 10, 1957.
Please join the family for a Celebration of Life, honoring Chuck's life journey. An open house style gathering will be held on Friday, May 9th from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Turtle's 1890 Social Centre, 112 Lewis St, Shakopee. Light snacks will be provided. There will be no formal service.
Chuck lived a very full, busy life with his parents and five other siblings in Shakopee, MN. This large family would often travel in the summer visiting relatives and participate yearly in the Minnesota State Fair showing their award-winning produce and honey. Quite often, Chuck would be expected to work alongside his Dad as the garden and orchard were a large part of the family.
Chuck became very involved in the Shakopee Boy Scout troop as a young man, going to events sponsored by them, actively participating in their weekly activities and attending camp each year. He enjoyed being an active part of this organization which assisted him in growing his love and respect for the outdoors and especially fishing. You could quite often see Chuck fishing in a boat alongside his dad as the family spent a large amount of time visiting his grandma and cousins who lived on Fish Lake. Later in life, Chuck made yearly fishing trips to Canada with his friends and looked forward to it each year.
Jubas Super Value became one of the larger parts of Chuck's life as he spent a better part of his working years at that store. He started out as a carry out and grew into other positions over the years. He enjoyed working side by side with many of his co-workers who became very good friends of his as they continued to work together for many years. Chuck eventually moved his family to Seattle where he ended up making a home there. He worked in various positions and really enjoyed his previous job of driving a transportation van for patients who needed to get to various medical appointments. He was always patient, kind and caring with his customers who enjoyed his sense of humor.
Chuck moved back to Shakopee in 2015 after he suffered a physically disabling stroke where he had the support of his family assisting him in his recovery. He spent the next 10 years enjoying time with his many siblings, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was able to be an active part of the community as he used his electric scooter to go just about anywhere around town! He made great friends with the local establishments, and businesses as he made his regular trips to see people. As he made his way around town on his scooter, Chuck always had a pocket of his shirt or coat filled with dog treats so he could share them with the dogs who befriended him.
With a quick wit and a large personality, Chuck enjoyed the company of all people. He loved to spend time with family at gatherings and would often tease and joke with those around him. He enjoyed the company of friends and family but also could not be disturbed if the Vikings or Twins were playing! He was a huge Minnesota sport fan and did not miss a game, even when he lived in Seattle. Chuck would often text family members during the games and either celebrate or complain about the plays with some memorable quips. Chuck lived a full, memorable life, but had to work extra hard after his stroke to find his path forward. Chuck was surrounded by family as he went into the arms of Jesus.
Survivors include his son, Robert TenEyck; sister, Irene TenEyck and husband Brian Hopkins (LaCrosse WI); brother, Paul TenEyck and wife Cathy TenEyck; brother, Cal TenEyck and wife Esther TenEyck; sister, Susan TenEyck-Stafki and husband Shawn Stafki (Perham, MN); brother, Les TenEyck and wife Jennifer. He was also blessed with many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his dad, Charles TenEyck and Maternal Grandmother, Dorothea Kaiser.
