Charles Douglas Thompson

Charles "Doug" Thompson passed away January 15, 2025 at the age of 79 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He was born June 8, 1945, to the late Oliver Pockrus and Emma Sue Thompson in Little Rock, Arkansas. Doug didn't have a chance to meet his father Oliver before his passing. However, he was raised by his adoptive father, McGhee Thompson, who raised him as his own. Doug proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, embodying a strong sense of duty and commitment. He went on to raise two daughters, who cherished his presence and guidance throughout their lives. On New Year's Eve in 1992, Doug married the love of his life, Catherine. Their work often took them on the road, allowing them see many of their shared interests, often going to watch NASCAR and the Los Angeles Angels Baseball games. Doug was also a huge fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks, but his favorite teams to watch, were the ones where his grandkids were playing. Doug found solace and contentment in being outdoors. He loved taking his boat to go fishing. He loved dogs and always had companion throughout his life. Doug's sense of humor and playful teasing endeared him to his family and friends, but it was his willingness to lend a helping hand that truly defined his character. Doug was devoted to Jesus and was very active in the church. Doug was a master storyteller, keeping everyone entertained, even if you knew he stretched the truth from time to time.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Catherine Thompson; and brother, Jerry Thompson.
He is survived by his children, Kim Frost and her husband, Kevin, Kylie Daniels and her husband, Brandon, Carolyn Allen and her husband, Peter, David Downey; grandchildren, Peyton Frost and his wife, Harley, Linsey West and her husband, Trenton, Keaton Austin, Trenton Austin, and his wife Britney, Carson Austin, Brecken Daniels, Britney Wolf and her husband Seth, Courtney Madden and her husband Beau, Meghan Downey, Ashley Downey, Holly Downey; sisters, Norma Partridge, Anita McCracken and her husband, Benny; and many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
His family and friends will remember him for his humor, generosity, and the joy he brought to their lives. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.
