Charles Joseph Timilty, 88, a man of selfless dedication, boundless generosity, and an unforgettable sense of humor, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2024, in Union, Kentucky. Born in Quincy, Massachusetts, Charles's journey through life was marked by his devotion to his family, his country, and his community.
Charles's early years in Quincy laid a strong foundation for the remarkable life he would lead. His zest for life and love for his family were evident in every endeavor he pursued. He embarked on a distinguished career with the DEA as a Federal Narcotics Enforcement agent, serving the US Department of Justice with unwavering commitment. His service extended beyond his civilian duty as he also proudly served in the Army, protecting the values and freedoms of the nation he held so dear.
After 64 years of loving marriage, Charles was predeceased by his beloved wife, Susan. Together, they built a legacy of love and laughter, which is carried on through their children: Tracy Timilty-Straub and her husband Brad, Erin Kalbaugh and her husband Kevin, and Charles Timilty and his partner Edie Hobson. Charles was a cherished grandfather to Kirsten, Tyler, Hunter, Quinn, and Kurtis, and a doting great-grandfather to Titus and Tahj. Each family member was touched by his remarkable spirit and will forever hold dear the memories they created together.
An avid sportsman, Charles found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was a skilled tennis player and an enthusiastic snow skier. His love for travel saw him frequently visiting the sunny coasts of Florida and the serene beaches of Hilton Head, where he could be found enjoying the company of friends and family. Charles's sense of humor was infectious, and he was known for being the life of the party. His talent for storytelling was second to none, and he could often be found regaling his loved ones with tales that were both entertaining and heartwarming.
Above all, Charles was a devoted husband and a pillar of strength for his family. His days were happiest when spent in the company of his children and grandchildren, whether it was playing cards, sharing a meal, or simply basking in the warmth of their presence. His guidance and love shaped the lives of those he cherished, and his legacy of kindness and compassion will be carried on for generations to come.
Charles's life was a testament to the power of giving. He approached every situation with a generous heart and a willingness to put others before himself. His laughter was a source of comfort and his presence a beacon of joy. To have known Charles was to have known a man who truly understood the meaning of living a full and meaningful life.
As we say goodbye to Charles Joseph Timilty, Jr., we celebrate a man who was the embodiment of love, laughter, and selflessness. His memory will be treasured in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have been a part of his extraordinary journey. Charles's story does not end with his passing but continues in the lives of those he inspired and the love that he fostered throughout his remarkable life.
