Obituary published on Legacy.com by Goldfinch Funeral Home - Conway Chapel on Jan. 21, 2026.
Charles "Laverne" Todd, 83, of Conway, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2026, at his home, surrounded by family.

Born on January 28, 1942, in Conway, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Maybell Brown Todd and Woodrow Todd. A lifelong resident of Conway, Laverne spent his life serving the community he called home.

Married for 65 years to his wife, Donna Jean Todd, Laverne was a devoted husband and a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Known as "Poppy" by his grandchildren and found his greatest joy in time spent with his family.

For more than 55 years, Laverne owned and operated Conway Wrecker Service, where his work became his way of helping others.

Laverne had a lifelong love of racing and spent many weekends at Myrtle Beach Speedway, enjoying the sport and the friendships that came with it.

He attended services at Myrtle Beach Christian Church and shared a close friendship with Preacher Danny Banks, which he valued deeply.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Jean Todd; his children, Debra Jean Todd (fiancé Billy Earl Todd Jr.) and Charles Laverne Todd Jr. (wife Sarah Knight Todd); his grandchildren, John Lavern Cannon (wife Megan Danger Cannon), Charles "Chase" Laverne Todd III (wife Kayla Marie Todd), Chasity Lauren Todd (fiancé Tyler Short), Tony Glenn Todd II (wife Montana Todd), John "Nate" Meadows, Chloe Todd (boyfriend Aaron Duran), Cameron Todd (boyfriend KJ Beam), and Olivia Todd; and his great-grandchildren, Quaid, Nora, Koen, Niomi, Coasten, Quinci, and Nadia.

He was preceded in death by his son, Tony Glenn Todd.

The family will receive friends at Goldfinch Funeral Home on Thursday, January 22, 2026 from 6:00-8:00pm. Funeral services will be held at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel, on Friday, January 23, 2026 at 2:00pm, with Preacher Danny Banks officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Charles "Laverne" Todd will be remembered for his devotion to family and his lifelong work in the community.
