Charles Trunk Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 12, 2024.
Trunk, Charles Francis of Fallston, Maryland passed away on August 23, 2024. Chuck is survived by his beloved wife of over 55 years- Kathleen "Kathy" Lunz Trunk. He is also survived by daughter Melissa and her husband Bob Donahue of Newport, Rhode Island, by daughter Stephanie and her husband John "Rusty" Wild of Fairfax, Virginia, and daughter-in-law Jennifer Kardash Trunk of Edgewood, Maryland former wife of the late Charles Francis Trunk, Jr. Chuck is also survived by his four loving grandchildren-Mia Trunk, Conor Donahue, and Grace and Jack Gradishar-and his beloved brother Paul David Trunk.

Chuck was born in Bridgewater, Virginia on September 23, 1942 to parents Stephen and Margaret Trunk and grew up in Overlea, Maryland outside of Baltimore Maryland. Upon graduating from Parkville High School, Chuck enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed for some time in Wiesbaden, Germany. In 1969 he graduated from the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy where he met his beloved wife Kathy. They were married and moved to Fallston, Maryland where they together raised three children, Melissa, Stephanie, and Chuck Jr.

Chuck enjoyed his early career as a pharmacist at Franklin Square Hospital, followed by St. Joseph Medical Center in Towson, Maryland. From 1993 to 2002, Chuck served as a federal pharmacist for the Department of Defense at Kirk Army Health Clinic on Aberdeen Proving Ground in Aberdeen, Maryland. A life-long Baltimorean, Chuck loved steamed crabs, the Orioles and the Baltimore Colts, followed by the Ravens. He was an avid history buff and famously chronicled the Trunk family history from Germany to Baltimore. Not enough, he planned and organized a trip to Germany for immediate and extended family members which included a visit to the Trunk ancestral home in Bavaria in 2006. Unbeknownst to many, Chuck was a talented "jitterbug" dancer and he and Kathy were known to win a dance contest here or there on nights out at the community pool. For the most part, Chuck loved the quiet, peaceful parts of life. Spending time with Kathy, a good book, an old radio show, swing music, and watching all Maryland sports teams on TV.

A memorial service will be held at St. Johns Catholic Church, 13305 Long Green Pike, Hydes, MD 20182 on October 26, 2024 at 11am. Family suggest contributions be made in his name to Patient Advocate Foundation,421 Butler Farm Rd, Hampton, VA 23666.
