Charles Tyvol Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Valley Funeral Home - Appleton on Mar. 1, 2026.
Charles "Chuck" Tyvol, 77, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Chuck was born on March 9, 1948, in Appleton, Wisconsin, to the late Clifford and Maidie Tyvol. He grew up in Appleton and graduated from Appleton West High School in 1968. Shortly after graduation, Chuck proudly answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Navy. During his time in the Navy, he served aboard the USS Hansen, an experience he spoke of with pride throughout his life.

Following his honorable service, Chuck returned home to Appleton and began working at Fox River Paper. It was there that he met the love of his life, Mary Bricco. Their workplace friendship blossomed into a lifelong partnership, and they were united in marriage on November 6, 1976, at St. Bernard's Church. Together they built a life grounded in love, laughter, and family. Chuck continued his career at Schmidt Oil Company in Combined Locks before later joining Checker Logistics, where he worked until his retirement in 2010. Retirement, however, didn't slow him down. He took a part-time position at Investors Bank-a job he often said was his favorite of his entire career, thanks to the friendships he formed and the joy he found in staying active and connected. Chuck found his greatest happiness in the simple pleasures of life. He loved hunting and fishing, peaceful boat rides on Wisconsin waters, and cheering on his beloved Green Bay Packers. Family vacations were among his most treasured memories, especially trips to Walt Disney World, annual cottage stays in Minocqua, and time spent in Wisconsin Dells. These traditions created lasting memories that his family will carry with them forever. Above all else, Chuck's greatest joy was his family. He cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren, who were truly the light of his life.

Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Mary Tyvol; one son and daughter-in-law: Ted and Jenn Tyvol; three grandchildren: Emily, Beckett, and Mila; brother, Tom (Louise) Tyvol; two sisters-in-law: Carol (Keith) Bauman and Alice Heintz; four brothers-in-law: Jim Bricco, David (Barb) Bricco, Ward Bricco, and Tom (Marjean) Bricco; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters: Loretta (Wallace) Hersant, Lois Krause, and Carol Tyvoll; in-laws: Lester and Helen Bricco; and six brothers-in-law: Joe (Delores) Bricco, Ted Bricco, Lawrence (Shirley) Bricco, Jack Bricco, Pat Bricco, and Jean Heintz.

A Funeral Service for Chuck will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N. Richmond St., Appleton. Visitation will begin at the funeral home at 9:00 a.m. and will continue until the time of the Service. Entombment will take place at Appleton's Highland Memorial Park.
