Charles H. "Chuck" Walters

Charles H. 'Chuck' Walters, age 80 of Corning, NY passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2023 at Bampas House.
Born on August 26, 1943 in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of the late Albert D. and Evelyn (Reynolds) Walters. He worked under several security companies at Dresser Rand and for a brief time at Philips Lighting in Bath, retiring with over 33 years of service.
Chuck served as a volunteer firefighter for the North Corning Fire Department during the 1970's. He also volunteered at the Addison Fire Department and the ambulance services for nearly 10 years through the 1980's. When he wasn't serving his community, Chuck enjoyed playing guitar in several local country bands, most recently the Sundowners, for many years. He was an avid licensed amateur radio user and loved talking to people all over the world. He also enjoyed collecting, riding, and photographing trains, going to car shows, and in his retirement years, driving his Corvette around the Finger Lakes.
Chuck is survived by his children: Terry (Valerie) Walters of Roanoke, VA and Deborah (Michael) Hansen of Big Flats, NY; grandchildren: Rebecca (Ryan) Morseman, Douglas Mertsock, Maggie Mertsock and Gavin Walters; and great grandchildren: Brantley and Allison.
In addition to his parents, Chuck was predeceased by his son, Charles, III; and sister, Diane Lewis.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Big Flats American Legion, 45 Olcott Rd. S., Big Flats, NY on Sunday, December 10, 2023 at 1:00 pm. Carpenter's Funeral Home, 14 E. Pulteney St., Corning has been entrusted with the arrangements.
