Charles Edward Walters, age 87, passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2024. He was born on February 11, 1937, to Edward and Bernice Walters in West Branch, MI. He married Mary Jo (Smith) Walters on October 9, 1959, in Bay City, MI. She preceded him in death on August 30, 2018.
Charles was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed farming, as of this past spring he helped with planting the corn and soybeans. He collected and worked on antique John Deere Tractors. He retired from Malleable Iron Foundry in 1990.
Charles is survived by his children Charles R. (Natalie) Walters of Pinconning, Norman Walters of Ann Arbor, Karen (Gary) Jozwiak of Kawkawlin, and Wendy (Clay) Matthews of Oak Park; grandchildren Alexandra Walters, Neil Jozwiak, Alyssa (Ben) Chaffin, Brittany (Michael) Essenmacher, Arianna (Torey) Wood, Charley (Ben Jensen) Walters, Jacob Matthews, Abigail Matthews, and Caleb Matthews; great grandchildren Gleeson and Vivian Chaffin, Rosalin and Morgan Wood.
Visitation will begin at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Father Al Pillarelli will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in West Branch.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
