Charles Edward Watkins, Junior
Charles Watkins (84 years of age) peacefully passed away at his home on Sunday, December 22nd, 2024. He was born on September 9th, 1940, in Detroit, Michigan.
"Charlie," as he was known to his family and friends, lived in San Antonio, Florida, with his wife of 60 years, Phyllis, and his precious pup. Before retiring to Florida, Charlie lived in Howell, Michigan.
Charlie was passionate about life, family, the Michigan State Spartans, and golfing. He was always willing to try new things and shared his positive outlook as well as his sharp wit with anyone he met. He was always quick to smile and laugh. He enjoyed spending time with his family and watching golf. As a golf pro, he coached and taught those who shared a similar vocation for golf, and analysis and correction went hand in hand with him.
Charlie and Phyllis had four children and raised them all in Howell, Michigan. Stephanie (Mark) Hardy of Tampa, FL, Cami (Bob) Barker of Pinckney, MI, Aimee Watkins of Howell, and Lyle Watkins of Asheville, NC. Charlie had eight grandchildren: Reganne and Peighton Hardy, Justin (Shawna) Buckner, Sydni and Jake Willey, Ashleigh (Nick) Pratt, Rylee (Thomas) Schiermeier, and Tegan Watkins. He also had two great-grandchildren who survived him: Emma Buckner and Kove Pratt. He is also survived by a sister, Susie (Joe) Zebrowski, and brothers, Mike and Tony Watkins – with multiple nieces and nephews. Charlie had several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. He loved his family dearly and took immense pride in all his connections with people – past and present. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and served his Country with honor.
Charlie's parents, Lenore and Charles Watkins, and his brothers, Dan and Randy, preceded him in death.
Charlie will be remembered fondly for the twinkle in his "eye," his sharp sense of humor, and his proud smile. He overcame challenges and pushed hard to rise above adversity. He loved his wife and family dearly and will forever be known as "Poppa" to all. A husband, father, hero, and friend to us all.
