Charles E. Way, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, passed away on August 10, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on February 22, 1950, in Cincinnati, Charles dedicated over 55 years to his career as an iron worker, proudly serving as a member of Local 44. His commitment to his profession extended beyond the job site, as he also held the esteemed roles of Business Agent for Local 372 and Administrator for the Iron Workers District Council in Dayton, Ohio.
A graduate of Central High School, Charles was known for his fiery spirit, unwavering opinions, and a steadfast work ethic that served him well throughout his life. He was a true storyteller, captivating those around him with tales from his experiences, whether they were from his time as a tradesman or his cherished family moments. Among his fondest memories were visits to Florida and the Magic Kingdom at Disney World, where he shared laughter and joy with his loved ones.
Outside of work, Charles had a variety of interests. He found delight in watching birds, and his passion for sports was evident in his unwavering support for the Cincinnati Bengals and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He also took immense pride in his 1966 Pontiac GTO, which became a symbol of his character and love for adventure.
Charles is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Way (nee Hess), whom he cherished for 56 years. He was the proud father of Kimberly (Steve) Steigerwald, Shannon (Mike) Wilkerson, Christina (JC) Thoman, Rebecca (Valerie Teets) Way, and Jennifer Way. As a grandfather, he took great pride in Ryan, Brady, Emma, Gracelyn (Tyler), Riley, and Tyler. He was also a caring brother to David (Jackie) Way, and an affectionate uncle to Michael, David, and Dennis.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Juanita Way, his sister Mary Ann Way, and his nephew, Jason Way. Charles’s proudest accomplishments remained his family and witnessing all five of his daughters graduate from college, a testament to his dedication and love as a father.
