Charles Edward "Jim" Wilson, 85, of New Whiteland passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026, in Greenwood.

Charles was born April 19, 1940, in Springfield, TN to the late Ewing and Annie Laura (Savage) Wilson. He married Janice Ruddick on June 18, 1961, in Trafalgar, IN; they were married for 54 years, until the time of her death.

He graduated from Springfield High School and received his Bachelor's Degree from Indiana State University. He worked at Arvin Automotive, where he retired.

Charles loved spending time with his family and enjoyed watching football and wrestling. He loved horses and watching his favorite actor, Elvis Presley and his close family members and friends called him Grampy, a nickname given by his granddaughter, Ashley.

Charles was a member of Palestine United Methodist Church in Springfield, TN and later attended Victory Christian Church in Franklin, IN.

He is survived by his daughter, Debbie Van Meter (Darrell) of Greenwood; two grandchildren, Ashley Cassin (Sean), Darrell C. Van Meter and six great-grandchildren, Taylor Robinson, Austin Van Meter, Kaitlyn and Jayden Cassin, Jackson and Eli Miller and their father Ben Miller, and four great-great--grandchildren, Rylen, Aryia, and Uriah Robinson.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Janice Wilson; father, Ewing Wilson and mother, Annie Laura Wilson; son, Larry Brent Wilson; granddaughter, Juliena Van Meter; brother, Carl (Dorothy); sisters, Joyce Ann Hodges (JD), Betty Jean Rice, and Sheila Burton.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, January 24 at 11:00 am at Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel, 729 N US Hwy 31 with Pastor Josh Cadwell officiating.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:00 am until the hour of service at 11 am.
