Charles Russell Wormsley, 69 of Excelsior Springs, passed away on February 1, 2025 peacefully at his residence with his wife by his side. A Celebration of Life will be held at the VFW in Excelsior Springs on Saturday, February 22, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
Charles was born September 20, 1955 in Polo, Missouri to parents James Paul and Mary Madeline (Hubbard) Wormsley. He graduated from Polo High School in 1973.
He married Soundra Kay Bettis on October 2, 2004 at the VFW in Excelsior Springs. They resided in Excelsior Springs. He worked for Ford Motor Company for 30 years doing paint repair and retired on December 31st, 2023.
He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and was a Mason, He loved his woodworking and refinishing furniture. He loved to grill and cook for family and friends. He enjoyed fishing and teaching his grandchildren how to fish. After retirement he enjoyed his chihuahua, Bo and feeding the birds each morning and watching them eat.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jim and Tom Wormsley; sisters, Shirley Harris and Sharon Wormsley.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Soundra; son, Chad Wormsley and spouse Amanda; daughter, Marcie White and spouse Tim; step-sons, Andrew J Bettis and spouse Joy and Joshua F. Bettis and spouse Lacie; sister Sandra Huey and spouse Kenneth; sister-in-law, Judy Wormsley; many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, numerous cousins and friends.
