Charles Edward Zimmerman, 68, of Williamsburg, West Virginia, passed away on August 21, 2025, in Salem, Virginia. He was born on February 21, 1957, in Ronceverte, West Virginia, to the late Earl and Nelva Zimmerman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Everett and Nelva Louise Nicely Zimmerman of Williamsburg, WV; his oldest brother, Larry Earl Zimmerman of Covington, VA; his grandparents, Cecil and Ocie Cogar Nicely and Elmer and Lovida Quick Zimmerman.

To know Chuck was to understand he lived life on his terms. He found his peace in the mountains and valleys of WV. He was an avid hunter and explorer who had a deep respect for the land. Music was a constant companion. His spirit was as free as the wind, a quality he channeled into his love for the roar of a Harley Davidson or a Chevy engine.

He is survived by his older brother, Denzil Franklin Zimmerman, and sister-in-law, Marlene Mullins Zimmerman of Hamptonville, NC, formerly of Frankford, WV; nieces, Tina Zimmerman, Angie Zimmerman, Marcy Zimmerman, Misty Zimmerman and Haley Zimmerman; nephew, Laramey and wife, Robin Zimmerman; great nieces, Chloe and husband Micah Kelly, Tannith Edwards, Bellamy Dellinger, and Sophia Spencer; great nephews, Kennison Moore, Landen Edwards, Jasper Edwards, Isaiah Zimmerman and Gus Dellinger; great-great niece, Olyn Kelly, and great-great nephew, Elliott Kelly.

The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date.

Earlier today

Words cannot express how truly saddened I am to learn of Chuck's passing. He was a gem of a man. When he knew you, and opened up, he was a joy to be with. He was always so kind to me, and he will be missed.
