Charlie Lee Clay, 68, (currently of Middletown, CT.) took his eternal rest on Thursday, December 12, 2024.
Charlie Lee Clay (better known as "Daddy") was born on October 31, 1956, he was the son of the late Ethel Mae Clay and the late Edward Charlie Brown. Charlie was born in Sylvester, GA. at the Worth County Hospital. Ethel Mae later brought her family to Middletown, CT. where Charlie attended various elementary schools in Middletown, CT. and graduated from Middletown High School, Class of 1974. He then entered the United States Army on April 15, 1977, until July 7, 1986.
Charlie then returned home to Middletown, CT. He worked for Lake Grove in Durham, Bob's Stores in Middletown, CT., and FedEx in Middletown, CT. where he retired from them all. Charlie was a member of Cross Street A.M.E Zion Church and part of the Events and various other Ministries where he was very involved for many years.
He lived his life with no restrictions but was always there to support and provide for his family in any way he could. In his earlier days, he enjoyed a good "Freeman Party", playing Spades and just having a good time with friends and family. In his older days, he grew attached to watching "The Heat of The Night, Bonanza, Gunsmoke, etc". Charlie enjoyed just sitting in his living room babysitting his grandchildren. He enjoyed sports both football and basketball. His two favorite Teams were the "Los Angeles Lakers" and the "Minnesota Vikings". He was a great caregiver, as well as a strong tower in his church family, and a cook. Daddy could cook.
He is survived by his wife Queen Elizabeth Clay; and 5 kids, (Daughter) Sabrina Chantrell Hicks (Husband Chef Mookie Hicks) of Indianapolis Indiana, (Daughter) Michele Marie Clay of Middletown, CT., (Son) Jermaine Raynor of Colerain, North Carolina, (Daughter) Charline Jaquetta Clay (Deontrae Taylor) of Middletown, CT., and Kendell James. He is survived by 2 brothers Connie Clay of Middletown, CT. and Michael "Uncle Mike" Clay (Mary Clay) of Waterbury CT. Charlie has 2 nieces, Porcha Freeman Thomas (great niece Autumn Thomas and great nephew Austin Thomas) and Mercedes Clay, his goddaughters of Middletown, CT., and a nephew Devar Holley. Charlie's pride and joys are his beautiful grandchildren Kamari Boose, Lucas Boose, Sherimon Raynor, Terrence Lamont Jackson Jr., Lyric Raynor, King Jay Belin, Jonathan Hicks, Maverick Taylor, and Dallas Taylor. He leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins, including the Freeman Family, The James Family, The White Family, and The Lockhart Family. Honorable mention: Pastor Raynor, Aunt Eula Dowtin, Shanti, Nyla, and Andre Jennings, Diamond, and Zion Wynn and Eddie Strong, Kim and Ashlyn Burnett, and Aisha Spears and Family.
