With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Charles A. Townsend on August 6, 2024. Charlie was a beloved father, husband, son, brother, and cherished friend whose zest for life and passion for the outdoors touched the lives of everyone who knew him. Born on March 7, 1945, to Marguerite "Peg" Ball Townsend and Henry "Doc" McDonald Townsend. Charlie grew up with a love for adventure and exploration. His spirit was best captured in his favorite pastimes: fishing, hiking, hunting, photography, reading, history, and golf. He approached each moment with enthusiasm and curiosity.
Charlie married Juliana Campbell in 1969. He graduated from Northwestern dental school in 1970. He was drafted into the Army in 1972. He had dental practices in Miami, FL, Boulder, CO and Rifle, CO before retiring to Cody, WY.
Charlie was a loving husband to Julie, a devoted father to Tara and Carrie, and a beloved grandfather to Campbell and Calley. He was a pillar of strength and faced the joys and challenges of life with love, commitment, and unwavering support.
Charlie's legacy is one of joy, exploration, and connection. He had a remarkable ability to find beauty in the ordinary and to inspire those around him to do the same. His life was a testament to the importance of pursuing one's passions and cherishing the relationships that matter most.
His loving family survives him: his wife Julie, daughters Tara and Carrie (Jim), granddaughters Campbell and Calley, brother Ralph (Stephanie), nephew Chris, niece Holly, and many special friends who were touched by his kindness and spirit. He is preceded in death by his parents Marguerite "Peg" Ball Townsend and Henry "Doc" McDonald Townsend.
Rest in peace, dear Charlie. Your journey may have ended, but your spirit will continue to inspire and guide us.
