Charlotte Lucille Fowler

Charlotte Lucille Fowler, 87, of Hillsdale, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025, at the Hillsdale County Medical Care Facility. Born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1937, to Virgil and Dorothy (Evans) Blair, Charlotte came into the world as a bright spark - and she kept it all her life. She was married to Harold Petrie Jr., and later to Richard Fowler, who preceded her in death in 1995.

Charlotte was a woman who knew how to enjoy life. She loved her bingo nights, trips to the casino, and a good cowboy romance novel. She had a sense of humor that could brighten a room, a sass that kept everyone on their toes, and a contagious spirit that drew in every person she came in contact with.

She is survived by her daughter, Jody (Marty) Calhoun of Osseo; her grandchildren, Angel (Bob) Holbrook, Rachel (Greg) Ashley, Doug Preston II, Tammy (Patrick) Campbell, Whisper (Destiny & Chad) Malburg, and Jordon Calhoun; and 12 great-grandchildren, all of whom carry her love forward.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Dorothy Blair; brothers, Richard and Stanley Blair; sisters, Thelma Painter and Marilyn Shaw; her daughter, Elaine Bondsteel; her granddaughter, Jody Bondsteel; her great-grandson, Don Taylor Workman; and her husbands, Harold Petrie Jr. and Richard Fowler.

Charlotte's life was filled with laughter, spunk, and love. She will be remembered for her strength, her quick wit, and the way she made everyone around her smile. Her family will miss her deeply and treasure her memory always. Her bright spark will continue to shine in all who loved her.

A graveside service for Charlotte Fowler will be held Monday, August 25, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Leonardson Cemetery in Pittsford with Dr. Samuel Wickard officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Greater Hillsdale Humane Society or to the family for the purchase of a cemetery monument.
