Today we bid our sweetest farewells to
Charlotte Patterson (Charlia Mae Baker), lovingly known to us as Mommy. To know her, is to love her. She leaves with us a legacy of style, class and grace that sparkles. Her energy is best described as an elegant firecracker who's smile and voice could and in fact would light up every room she entered. No matter where and no matter how big. She was indeed full of love with a zest for life highlighted by her inexplicable courage to always seek out the good in others. She had the ability to floor you with the truest truths about yourself. Once you could recover and get up off the floor. It was always clear that her words were out of love. Devoted to her family, she did her best to make it known without a doubt that she loved and cared for you. Mommy was a shining star to all that knew her, a gift. She is leaving behind a lasting impression of warmth on countless hearts. A warmth that will still be felt, when remembered. She was an amazing singer and dancer! Her angelic voice drew you in every time she sang "Lightning flashes in your eyes, when you can't find your way", or "Savior my beloved savior, savior, don't pass me by ''. She enjoyed music in all its forms and when the right song hit, she'd hit the floor and dance. She has been known to drop it like it's hot. Her sense of humor was an essential trait of what made her who she was. She had an infectious laugh not to be outdone by her beauty and confidence. Always an educator she encouraged those she loved to get their education, reminding us that it is the one thing that can never be taken away from you.
Allah blessed us with the opportunity to witness Mommy in her many roles as wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Her love for her community helped and inspired many.
