Charlotte Rittgers Obituary

Charlotte, of New Hartford, passed away peacefully at UPH/Allen Hospital. She was born in New Hartford, daughter of Lawrence and Esther (Ballhagen) Rittgers. Charlotte graduated from New Hartford High School with the Class of 1947. She worked for the University of Northern Iowa as a secretary in the Extension office, retiring July of 1989. Charlotte enjoyed life on the farm with her family. They would eat out together at local restaurants such as Doc's in Clarksville or the Waverly Sale Barn. Charlotte liked to spend time at their cabin and visiting brother, Ralph, in Minnesota to go fishing. She was an animal lover and liked to feed the birds and typically had multiple cats on the farm. In recent years, Charlotte found quieter entertainment in watching classic game shows.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Gladys (Calvin) Elliott, Eugene (Marvel), Merle (Rose Ella), Ralph, Elizabeth and Ardith Rittgers. She is survived by a brother, Donald Rittgers of Shell Rock; a sister-in-law, Arlene Rittgers of Park Rapids, Minnesota; and nieces, nephews and other beloved family members; close friends and neighbors.
Charlotte's family will honor her with a visitation from 1–3?p.m. at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home followed by burial at Oak Hill Cemetery of New Hartford. Memorials may be directed to the family.
