Cheri L. Shepard

COHOES Cheri L. Shepard, 56, passed away peacefully Sunday, Oct. 13, 2024 at Samaritan Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Albany, Cheri was the daughter of the late Richard and Sandra Surprenant Dominy. She was a 1986 graduate of Cohoes High School and has resided in Cohoes for most of her life.
Cheri will be remembered for her generous spirit and her big heart. She was a strong woman who always put others first and would help anyone she could. She also was very talented and enjoyed painting, singing and of course, growing the tallest sunflowers. She liked to have fun, was usually the life of the party and was loved by everyone she met.
If there was one thing that defined Cheri, it was her devotion to family. She is survived by her beloved daughters, Kristina Shepard (Jason) of Watervliet and Heather Shepard (Brian) of Latham; by her loving siblings, Debbie Mather (Michael) of Jacksonville, FL, Lisa Bonesteel (Chris) of Leland, NC, Patricia Charbonneau of Troy and Eddie Dominy of Cohoes. She is also survived by her 4 grandchildren who truly were the light of her life, Brandon, Brooke, Alex and Travis as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Ricky Dominy.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday at 6 p.m. in the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes with Pastor Nick TeBordo officiating.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the funeral home from 4-6 p.m. prior to the service.

Cheri's family would especially like to thank the staff at Samaritan Hospital's ICU and on 6 Tower as well as the Hospice Team for their excellent care and comfort during this difficult time.
