Cheri Ann Smith

Cheri Ann Smith, 57, of Flatwoods, Kentucky passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at UK Kings Daughters in Ashland, Kentucky.

Cheri was born October 12, 1968, in Ironton, Ohio she was the daughter of the late James L. and Ida M. Payne (Gibson). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Samuel L. Smith and one daughter Samantha Breann Smith.

Cheri is survived by one son, Samuel "Sammy" L. Smith II (Breanna) of Flatwoods, KY, two daughters, Kacie Nicole Mullins (Elijah) of Ashland, KY and Jordan Leigh Williams (Dustin) of Flatwoods, KY, two brothers, Scott Miller and Kevin Miller, two sisters, Angie Dixon and Teresa Miller, nine grandchildren, Landon, Ryker, Gwen, Peyton, Blake, Easton, Emmy, Lily, and Audrey, a special aunt who was more like a sister to her, Brenda Fields (Philip) of Russell, Kentucky, and a host of other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.

Cheri was a special person to many people, but to the people she called family she was the one who brought light to a dark room, the one who made sure that everyone felt loved, and cared about. Her family was the most important thing to her; she dedicated everything she did to serving her children and grandchildren. Whether you called her Nannie, Mom, or friend you knew that you were loved.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Monday, January 12, 2026, at Flatwoods First Pentecostal Church, 1110 Bellefonte Road Flatwoods, KY 41139.

A memorial service will be conducted at 6:00 PM with Pastor Shane Cox officiating.
