Cherry Thomas Gore was born May 16, 1939, in Hart County, Kentucky, to parents George Leonard Nuckols and Mollie Belle Nuckols. She departed this life at Meadowbrook Rehabilitation Center in Gardner, KS, on November 7, 2025, at the age of 86.
Cherry was the fourth oldest of thirteen siblings. She resided in Hart County, where she met and married James Earnest Edwards in 1956. From this union came her first child, Marjorie. Upon the passing of her first husband, Cherry met and married Russell Duff Bell. From this union came eight children: Ricky, Walter, Mollie, Irvin, Duril, Mac, Wendell, and Anthony, and two stepchildren: Cathy and Ronnie. Sadly, after many years of marriage, Russell passed away in May of 1976. Two years later, in June of 1978, Cherry met and married Reverand John Russell Gore. From this union, Cherry gained an adopted stepson, Anthony Russell Gore. The family moved to Campbellsville, Kentucky, that same year. She remained married to Reverend Gore until his passing in 1985.
Cherry resided in Campbellsville for a number of years, where she helped to raise her children and later, grandchildren. Cherry loved her children and grandchildren and enjoyed raising them. She also enjoyed walking and gardening.
Cherry was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mollie Nuckols; three sisters, Lelia Alexander, Mamie Nuckols, and Dorthy Wilson; and four sons, Mac O'Dell Bell, Wendell Bell, Duril Bell, and Walter Bell.
She is survived by five brothers, Leonard Nuckols, George Nuckols, Charles Nuckols (wife, Patrica), Barry Nuckols (wife, Janice), and Paul Nuckols (wife, Sheila); four sisters, Hannah Johnson (husband, Leory, deceased), Linda Hall (husband, Ross, deceased), Janice Johnson (husband, Johnny Ray), and Patricia Nuckols; four sons, Ronnie Bell, Ricky Bell, Irvin Bell, and Anthony Bell (wife, Melissa); three daughters, Cathy Slaughter (husband, Raymond, deceased), Marjorie Gore (husband, Tony, deceased), and Mollie Tate (husband, William, deceased); and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Many people may know her as Cherry Gore, but to her grandchildren, she will always be fondly remembered as "G-Ma" or "G-Meister."
The family would like to thank everyone for their support, help, and prayers during this difficult time.
The Funeral Service for Cherry Thomas Gore will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the L.R. Petty Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.
Teresa Richardson Payne will officiate.
The family has requested visitation on Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
