Cheryl Alexander, 75, of Indianola, Iowa, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on August 1, 1950, to Karl McGahuey and Elladeen (Laird) McGahuey. Cheryl lived a life filled with kindness, hard work, and devotion to those she loved. She dedicated many years of her life to Walmart, where her friendly smile, compassion, and dependable nature touched countless coworkers and customers.

Cheryl found joy in life's simple and beautiful things. She loved watching hummingbirds, whose grace and color brought her comfort, and she cherished the companionship of her beloved pet bird, Tiki. She was a woman of quiet strength, with a warm heart and a resilient spirit that carried her through life's challenges.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her beloved son Kelly Hunt, and her parents Karl and Elladeen McGahuey.

She is survived by her loving partner, Ronald Alexander; brother, Roger McGahuey (Cathy); children, Timothy Hunt (Shawna) and Stacie Reha (Bret). Cheryl was a proud grandmother to Timothy's children, Casey Hunt and Cory Hunt (Kenzie), as well as Stacie's children, Kyle Trilk (Sydney), Taylor Reha, and Kaleb Reha. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Kelsey Wright, Zachary Hunt and Kourtnie Stephenson, the children of her late son Kelly; and many great-grandchildren; step-children, Kim Boyce, Kelly Jo Wilkins (Gary), Kirk Alexander (Brenda).

Cheryl's greatest joy was her family, and her love for them will be her lasting legacy. She will be remembered for her warmth, perseverance, and the joy she brought to all who knew her.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 1 to 4 p.m., at the American Legion Post 165, located at 105 West 1st Ave, Indianola, Iowa 50125. Memorials in memory of Cheryl may be given to the family.
