PLANO, IL ~ Cheryl R. Barber, age 73, passed away unexpectedly at Neighbors Health Care Center of Byron, IL, on Sunday, March 1, 2026. She was born on October 17, 1952, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota the daughter of Clarence & Iva (Felcher) Melow. Cheryl loved simple things in life, she enjoyed collecting clocks and Lighthouses and watching the show The 1st 48. The biggest love of her life though was her family, she loved to spend her time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents Clarence & Iva, brother Gene Melow, sister Cindy Boyd and her son Junior Barber. She is survived and missed dearly by her loving son Edward (Rebecca Goner) Barber; sister and dear friend Candy Reynart; grandchildren Shavon Goner; Ashley Goner; Duane Goner Jr.; Leslie Goner-Barber; great-grandchildren Vincent Upchurch; Aubrey Upchurch; Weston Upchurch; and niece Tiffany Melow. Cremation Arrangements are being handled by Farrell Holland Gale Funeral Home with no public services to be held at this time.
