Cheryl Hill Castine, 69, of Savannah, GA passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at Hospice Savannah.
A native of Savannah, Georgia, she was the daughter of Eanos Braxton "Brad" Hill and Betty LaVon Edenfield Hill. She was raised in Savannah and attended Chatham County Schools. She graduated in the class of 1972 from Robert W. Groves High School, where she played cymbals in the marching band. She was an accomplished pianist and organist and served in that capacity with South Newington Baptist Church for many years, until retiring from playing. Cheryl was a retired Clerk in the Chatham County Juvenile Court System.
Cheryl enjoyed needlepoint, reading and crafting in her spare time. She was a wonderful cook, loving wife and caring mother who doted on her family. She loved a good joke or prank. Her laughter was infectious. She was an avid animal lover.
She was preceded in death by her father, Eanos Braxton "Brad" Hill.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Marion Wayne Castine; children, Tiffany Castine Nessmith (Brian) and Jason Wayne Castine (Melyssa Hunter); grandchildren; Madeleine and Bradley Nessmith; mother, Betty LaVon Edenfield Hill; sister, Kimberly Hill Barkey (Hans); niece, Lauren Barkey; nephews, Cameron and Erich Barkey; and beloved dog, Mimi Castine.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 4, 2024 from 12:30-2:30pm at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at Westside Memorial Gardens at 3pm on Tuesday following the visitation with Rev. Ken Jernigan officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at https://act.alz.org or to Hospice Savannah at 1326 Eisenhower Drive Savannah, GA 31406.
