Cheryl DeCarteret (66) of Athol, Massachusetts passed away peacefully on Friday December 8th surrounded by her family and closest friends.
Cheryl was born in Lowell, Massachusetts to Gloria and Edgar "Rocky" Hinton. Cheryl lived an adventurous young life; from running car parts for her father's automobile shop, Tewksbury Speed Shop, to owning and running Craft Cottage and Country Store at the age of sixteen. Cheryl also worked at Suzuki of Tewksbury, managed the books at her father's Sunoco gas station, ran the silk screening press at the Lowell Textile Mill, and later became a preschool teacher at Klever Kids and First Years academy. Most importantly, Cheryl was an incredibly hardworking home maker, wife, and mother.
Despite her busy days, Cheryl always made time to volunteer and be involved in her children's extracurricular activities. Cheryl was a Leader for her children's boy and girl scout troops and devoted countless hours to the church and its missions. She adored the community that she created at the Chestnut Street United Methodist Church Thrift Shop and was always finding new ways to support and care for them.
Cheryl leaves behind her other half, David, who she loved and adored every day for the past 44 years. Cheryl is also survived by all her loving children who could always count on their Mom, several grandchildren, a sister Robin Hinton, a brother Edgar Hinton III, and several brothers and sisters in law.
Cheryl's life will be celebrated on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Stone- Ladeau Funeral Home. Visiting hours will be held from 2-3pm with a short service following at 3 pm in the funeral home.
In true Cheryl style, show up to party and laugh! In lieu of flowers, it is Cheryl's request that monetary donations be made to Toys for Tots.
