Cheryl Anna Esler

Cheryl Anna Mae Esler, of Poplarville, Mississippi, passed away on February 13, 2026, at the age of 72. Born on August 17, 1953, in Providence, Rhode Island, to the late Oscar and Marie Herbert, Cheryl's life was a testament to the love and care she devoted to her family.

Cheryl is the beloved wife of 48 memory filled years to Danny Esler and the adored mother of Keith Martin, Michael Esler (Alanna), Danny Esler Jr., Melissa Gonzalez (Jesse), and Rosemary Hasting (B.J.). Her role as a homemaker was one she embraced with passion, creating a warm and welcoming home where laughter and love were always in abundance.

The legacy Cheryl leaves behind is richly embodied in her grandchildren: Maison Martin (Jewel), Gabrielle Baker, Colleen Martin, Lia Esler, Ashton Esler, Isabelle Esler, Olivia Gonzalez, Jesse A. Gonzalez, Braelyn Gonzalez, Brennan Gonzalez, Amelia Hasting, Jude Hasting, and Logan Esler. Cheryl is survived by her siblings, Robin Herbert and Rosemary Herbert, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members, all of whom she loved dearly. She was predeceased by her siblings, Frank Herbert, Dorothy Varnado, and Mary Jenkins.

Cheryl found joy in arts and crafts, especially crocheting and creating with her hands. She poured her heart into everything she created - from every stitch crocheted to every meal she lovingly prepared. Cooking for her family was one of her greatest joys. Cheryl adored her dogs, enjoyed scary movies, and loved spending her free time playing video games- often engaging in playful competition with her grandchildren. These shared moments of fun and laughter are cherished memories that will continue to bring smiles to the faces of her loved ones.

Cheryl's presence will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. As we say goodbye to Cheryl Anna Mae Esler, we celebrate the remarkable woman she was and the enduring impact she made on the world around her.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, February 27, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Audubon Funeral Home in Slidell.
