It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Cheryl Ann Gauthier Jerome, age 76, who left this world surrounded by her loving family at her home in Pineville on August 20, 2025. Cheryl was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who touched the lives of all who knew her with her kindness and generosity.
Born on March 10, 1949, Cheryl was a proud native of Moreauville. Her commitment to caring for others shone brightly throughout her 42-year career as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Huey P. Long Charity Hospital, after receiving her degree from Northwestern State University. In addition to her professional achievements, Cheryl served as a board member of the Holiday Village Fire Department and volunteered her time with the Children Advocacy Network, reflecting her passion for community service and support for those in need.
Cheryl’s family, who will cherish her memory, includes her beloved children: Kristie Weisler (Scott), Karen Jerome, Kevin Jerome (Kristina), and Kellie Jerome (Kersey). She also leaves behind her step-children, Ronald Pickle (Amber) and Lisa Pickle. In addition to her children, Cheryl is survived by her dear sister, Melba Hanks (David), and cherished nieces, Allyson Gremillon Hayman and Jeanine Torres. She will be deeply missed by her 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ronald Jerome; her parents, Kirby and Ethel Fontanille Gauthier; and her mother-in-law, Frances Jerome.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, beginning at 10:00 AM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Moreauville, officiated by Fr. Brian Seiler and assisted by Fr. Dale Meade. Prior to the Mass, visitation will commence at 8:30 AM at Escude Funeral Home of Moreauville, with the Holy Rosary being recited at 9:30 AM. Following the service, Cheryl will be laid to rest in the Sacred Heart Catholic Mausoleum. The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to the Compassionate Care Hospice group for their exceptional support and care during Cheryl's final days, as well as to her Huey P. Long Hospital family who held a special place in her heart.
Cheryl Ann Gauthier Jerome will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her, a lasting legacy of compassion, strength, and love.
