Cheryl Kuechler Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home on May 24, 2025.
Cheryl A. (Rounsevell) Kuechler, aged 79, of Lakeville, MA, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2025, at the Keystone Place at Buzzard's Bay Senior Living Facility, after a courageous decade-long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was the beloved wife of Bruce C. Kuechler and the cherished daughter of the late Robert and Ethel (Crossley) Rounsevell.
Cheryl is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Catherine (Loranger) and David Cooper of Lakeville, along with her son and daughter-in-law, Christian and Aileen Loranger of the U.S. Virgin Islands. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren, Naomi and Nolan Cooper, and Blythe and Lirin Loranger, as well as several stepchildren and step-grandchildren.
A lifelong resident of East Freetown and Lakeville, Cheryl was proud of her family's history in the area. She graduated from Apponequet Regional High School in 1963, as a member of the first class to attend the then "new" school for all four years. In 1981, she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Southeastern Massachusetts University (now UMass Dartmouth) and subsequently established a successful career as an insurance agent for Farm Family Insurance. Cheryl achieved numerous accolades throughout her career, including All American and Senior Agent status, before retiring with pride in 2015. Earlier in her career, she worked for Chace Chevrolet in Middleboro and Merchants Bank in New Bedford.
An adventurous spirit, Cheryl enjoyed myriad activities such as snow skiing, traveling, boating, and cherishing her time on Long Pond. She also took great joy in her roles as a past docent for the New Bedford Whaling Museum and a proud member of the General Society of Mayflower Descendants. In her youth, she actively participated in the Long Pond Beach Club Water Skiers Association.
Her family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff of the Bay Memory Care unit at Keystone Place for their extraordinary care during her final years, as well as the compassionate team at Beacon Hospice, whose support brought comfort in her last days.
Funeral services for Cheryl will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025, with visiting hours from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, located at 280 Bedford Street, Lakeville, MA 02347. A service at 12:00PM will follow the visiting hours, and a committal service will take place immediately thereafter at the Rounsevell Cemetery in East Freetown.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations in Cheryl's memory be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Pilgrim Hall Museum.

Bruce and Family,

Please know our thoughts and prayers are with you in the loss of your wife, mother, grandmother and a truly special woman. I have many fond memories of Cheryl, her laugh, her sense of humor, her beauty, her poise and her welcoming, kindhearted personality. Having both been agents with Farm Family we shared many meetings and All Americans together.
She always welcomed me with a big smile and kind and caring conversation. I have missed Cheryl and Bruce for many years as our paths haven't crossed since her retirement.
Please know she will always hold a special place in my heart as a wonderful friend.
May you find strength and comfort in your many memories of her.
