Cheryl Joy Moniz

Cheryl Joy Moniz was born August 8th, 1959, and passed away at home on March 14th, 2025. Cheryl was born to John E. Jr and Dorothy Grubb in Willows, California.
She was a lifelong Orland resident, spending all her school days here. She graduated from Orland High School in 1977. She started working at Pacific Bell in 1977 at the young age of 17 and worked there until her retirement.
Cheryl married Freddie W. Moniz Jr. on November 19th, 1980, and they spent over 41 years together until his passing in January of 2022. They made a wonderful life together and raised two children.
Cheryl was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend. She loved tending to her plants and flowers, crafting, and sewing. She was an amazing artist! She enjoyed Harley rides with her husband, concerts, and any get togethers with family and friends. Her biggest love was the ocean, and she has shared many memories over the years of all her special trips and adventures there.
She is survived by her children David and Laurin Moniz of Orland, 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, siblings Shelly Ostarello, Vicki Grubb, Allen Mathews, and Keith Mathews.
She was welcomed into Heaven by her dear husband Freddie, Parents John Jr. and Dorothy, 6 siblings, and many other beloved family members and friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, May 4th, 2025 at 3pm located at the Glenn Success Square conference center, 131 E. Walker st, Orland, CA 95963. Hippie or tie dye attire encouraged. Feel free to bring a dessert to share.
