Cheri Smith, age 68, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully at home on April 9, 2025, with her devoted husband by her side, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born and raised in Springfield, Cheri graduated from Kickapoo High School in 1976. She met the love of her life, Les Smith, while bowling-a chance encounter that led to a beautiful marriage and the joy of raising two sons together.
Cheri held various positions throughout her life, many within the healthcare field, where her kind and compassionate nature always shone through. Her work as an in-home aide with Phoenix Home Care was especially meaningful to her, and she made a lasting difference in the lives of those she cared for.
Cheri is survived by her loving husband, Les Smith of Springfield, MO; her sons, Les Smith Jr. (wife Amy) and Jason Smith, both of Ozark, MO; and her cherished granddaughter, Tori Smith. She is also survived by her brothers, Mike Angel (wife Teresa) of Tulsa, OK, and Jeff Angel (wife Andrea) of Arizona; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Lottie Angel, and her brother, Billy Angel.
Cheri will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her unwavering love for her family, and the warmth she brought to everyone around her. Her legacy of kindness and care lives on in the hearts of all who knew her.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at Mission Ridge for the exceptional care and compassion shown to Cheri in her final months.
No formal services are planned at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, MO.
