Cheryl Denise Wampole, 71, of Granbury, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2025, surrounded by loved ones after a courageous battle with illness.
Cheryl was born on June 6, 1954, in Cleburne, Texas, to the late David Aubrey Boyd and Sadie Louis Morris. She was the third of five children and is preceded in death by her brothers David Wayne Boyd and Aubrey Alan Boyd.
She is survived by her sister, Linda Blackwood (spouse Rick), and her brother, Darrell Anthony Boyd.
A devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother (Granny / Great-Granny), sister, and friend, Cheryl lived her life with passion, resilience, and an open heart. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jimmy Dell Kennimer, the father of her three sons, and is survived by her beloved husband, Robert Lawrence Wampole (Larry), who remained faithfully by her side as her loving partner and caregiver. Cheryl is survived by her sons: Jimmy Lyle Kennimer, Jacob Cole Kennimer, and Jeffrey Clovis Kennimer; stepchildren: Joe Wampole Jing, and Erica May David and her husband Christopher William David; and daughter-in-law Melissa Hughes. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy through her grandchildren: Jimmy Ray Kennimer, Alley Kennimer, Rose Kennimer, Juliet Nicole Menefee (and husband Aaron), and Catherine Guinevere David. Cheryl was also the proud great-grandmother of Kyler, Evelyn, Jeremiah, and Ellis (children of Alley), Alexander Neal and Shana Rose (children of Juliet and Aaron), and Jasmine NylaMay (daughter of Catherine).
A masterful quilter, Cheryl found joy and peace in her craft-each stitch a reflection of her patience, creativity, and care. She adored hummingbirds, butterflies, and her many cats over the years, all symbols of the beauty and comfort she brought to those around her. Cheryl was never one to shy away from a conversation-her gift for storytelling and deep love of connection made her a cherished companion to many.
Her faith in God was unwavering, and her love for her family and friends boundless. Cheryl was passionate and fiercely strong, a true fighter who faced life's challenges with grace and determination.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the blessing of knowing her.
A viewing will be held at Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury, Texas, on Tuesday, July 8, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
