Chester "Joe" Lamando Jr.

Chester "Joe" Lamando Jr., 86, of Nahant, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at his son's home, surrounded by his loving family. Born on February 23, 1939, he was the son of the late Chester and Mary (Orlando) Lamando, and the beloved husband of the late Bonnie (Buck) Lamando.
Joe was born and raised in Peekskill, NY, he received his master's degree at Clarkson College and proudly joined the United States Army, where he was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany. Joe channeled his talents into engineering, joining General Electric's aircraft division as a mechanical engineer. He was a handyman and could build and fix anything. Joe was an avid golfer who found peace on the green, an artist who saw beauty in the everyday, a poet and philosopher who sought meaning in life's subtleties. Known fondly as a "renaissance man," he lived with purpose and passion, always learning. Joe was a snowbird and enjoyed winters in Naples FL, playing Bocci,bingo and golf with friends in his church and community. He was a kind, caring man who was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Along with his parents, Joe is pre-deceased by his beloved wife, Bonnie (Buck) Lamando, as well as his brother, Robert Lamando.
Joe will be dearly missed and is survived by his loving children, Michael Lamando, Thomas Lamando and his wife Patti Lamando, and Kristen Lamando and her husband Charles Waelde; beloved grandchildren, Nicholas Lamando, T.J. Lamando, Will Todisco, and Stone Waelde, and step grandchildren Joseph Errico, and Alissa Errico.
Joe is also survived by several brother and sister- in laws, and many nieces and nephews who each had a unique and special relationship with him including being "Grampy", to Paul, Abbie, Grace, Jackson, Charlie, and Luke.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours from 4-8 PM Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at Solimine Funeral Home, 67 Ocean Street, Lynn. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at 11 AM at Nahant Village Church, 27 Cliff Street, Nahant. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Nahant. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the art or music department at Johnson School in Nahant, or the Nahant Village Church.
