Chipper L. Smith, a beloved mother, sister, and friend passed away with family by her side on October 28th, 2025. Chipper was a warm light in the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
She is now reunited with her predeceased loved ones, including her parents, Raymond Couch and Patricia Smith, and siblings, William Downs and Helene Yaegar.
Her love extended deeply to her family, whom she adored wholeheartedly. Chipper was a devoted and loving mother to her son, Christopher Smith, and a proud grandmother to her grandsons, Tylor Truax and Andrew Slack. Chipper’s heart was also big enough to include her beloved siblings: John Couch, Charles Couch, Wilma (Ray Stone) Downs, Berneda (Bill) Rivard, Rachel Couch, and Mark Couch, with whom she shared countless memories and laughs.
In addition, Chipper had a special place in her heart for animals. She adored her furry companions—Onge, Blue, Jackie, Sissy, Baby, Grace, Socks, and Anita—who brought her immense joy and comfort.
Chipper was one of those rare souls who made the world brighter just by being in it. She was kind to everyone, always caring, and endlessly selfless. Her willingness to give the shirt off her back without a moment’s hesitation showcased the brilliance of her character. A remarkable sense of humor was one of her greatest gifts—she could effortlessly make anyone laugh, even on the hardest days. Chipper had a unique ability to find joy in the simplest moments and lifted others up with her positivity and warmth.
Chipper will be remembered for her unwavering commitment to spreading love and kindness. Her laughter, vibrant spirit, and insatiable love for WWE and Reba McEntire remain etched in the hearts of everyone who knew her. She impacted many lives, leaving behind countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will carry forward her legacy of compassion.
Chipper's life will be celebrated with visitation for family and friends on Sunday, November 2, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by some brief words of remembrance at 2:00 PM at the New Comer Funeral Home located at 2636 Ridgeway Ave, Rochester, NY 14626.
All who knew and loved her will remember her as a truly remarkable woman whose kindness and laughter will never be forgotten.
