Chris D. Houtz, 67, of Mifflintown (Licking Creek), passed away peacefully on Monday, November 17, 2025, at his residence. Born on November 15, 1958, in Lewistown, Mifflin County, he is a son of the late Gerald Denton and Dorothy (Knepp) Houtz. On June 28, 1980, he married his surviving wife, Mary Beth (Davis) Houtz with whom he was blessed to share over 45 years of marriage before his passing. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Alisa McCulloch and her companion Ken Troyer of Mifflintown and Ethan Houtz and his wife Alaina of Carlisle; two grandsons, Logan McCulloch and Caleb McCulloch; siblings, Gerald Houtz and his wife Diane of McAlisterville, Howard Houtz and his wife Mary Ruth of Lewistown, Randy Houtz and his wife Mona of Mifflintown, and Annette Burdge of Mifflintown; one sister in law, Judy Houtz of Mifflintown; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Curtis Houtz; one sister in infancy, Rosann Houtz; and one brother-in-law, Tim Burdge. Chris was employed by several local construction companies throughout his life and retired in 2018. His memberships include St. Stephen's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Millerstown Moose Lodge #925, Spectacle Gap Hunting Camp and he was a former Scoutmaster for Troop 124, Licking Creek. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time at Camp Why Not? in Potter County, coaching his children's little league and softball teams, and teaching and sharing his wisdom to his children, grandsons, nieces and nephews about the outdoors and sportsmanship. A Viewing will be held from 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM on Monday, November 24, 2025, at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown. All other services and interment will be private.
