Chris Haldane Nielsen, 70, passed away on May 24, 2024, in Denver, Colorado. He was born on February 27, 1954, in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. Chris was known for his kindness, consideration, dedication, innovation, and love, coupled with a wicked sense of humor. Throughout his life, he actively participated in various fraternal organizations, holding leadership positions in DeMolay, Order of Eastern Star, and South Gate Masonic Lodge.
Chris is survived by his wife, Janet Spindle McCarthy Nielsen, sister Leanne Nielsen, step-daughter Carrie (Don) Thompson, grandson Arin (Mallory) Thompson, an aunt and uncle, and several cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Margaret Nielsen, and sister Debra Kay Nielsen.
Educated at Abraham Lincoln High School and Regis College, Chris embarked on a successful career in the Denver area, managing restaurant and retail stores before finding his niche in the debt collection business. He retired in 2023 due to health issues.
In his leisure time, Chris enjoyed collecting comic books, reading science fiction, and driving throughout the Colorado mountains. A viewing/visitation will be held, Thursday, June 6, from 10:00am-11:30am at Aspen Mortuary, 1350 Simms St, Lakewood, CO, followed by a graveside service and Masonic ceremony at Staging Area A, Fort Logan National Cemetery from 12:30pm-1:00pm.
In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to South Gate #138 Masonic Lodge: Brent Delehoy, PO Box 636, Watkins, CO 80137. Donations will be used for educational and music scholarships.
Aspen Mortuary, located at 1350 Simms St, is assisting with the funeral arrangements. Chris will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
