Chris Oakley Obituary

DEF IANCE: Christopher Oakley, 39, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 5, 2025, at University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, just hours before a long-awaited liver transplant. Though he had lived with liver disease, Chris never let it define him-meeting each day with laughter, love, and an easygoing spirit that left a lasting impression on everyone who met him.

Born May 27, 1986, in Mansfield, Chris was a graduate of Mansfield Senior High School. He built a life rooted in connection, guided by his natural ability to make others feel valued. Whether hanging out with his friends, opening his house to those that needed a place to crash, or laughing hysterically with his family, Chris carried with him a deep love for the people around him.

Hard working and dependable, Chris worked for Central Transport, driving throughout Ohio, Indiana, Pennsylvania and Illinois. He rarely missed work, even during his illness.

Chris was a devoted husband and best friend to his wife, Ashley, whose laughter he could easily spark. The two were married October 22, 2022. Together, they shared a love for live music, late-night TV binges, and dreaming big. Perhaps one day retiring and managing a food truck; but that was Chris, excited to share the next adventure with Ashley.

He found joy in the simple rhythms of family life and especially cherished time with his sons, Chase, CJ, and Dexter. Sunday evenings were sacred-set aside for gaming and bonding with his boys, a tradition that will be sorely missed.

Chris had a big personality, a bigger heart, and an unmatched ability to connect. He was the kind of person who could name the artist of any song on the radio, whip up a delicious meal without a recipe, invite "the boys" to watch the Cleveland Browns or Guardians no matter the score. He shrugged off hardship, and showed love freely. A loving husband, dad, son, brother and uncle, Chris was loved by so many and will be forever missed.

Chris is survived by his loving wife, Ashley Oakley; his three sons Chase, CJ, and Dexter; his mother Laurie Oakley; siblings Julie Oakley and Allen Oakley; and his cherished nieces and nephews: Trevor, Isaac, Gaven, Kendall, AJ, Allee, Eloise, and Colin. He also leaves behind an extended family who lovingly referred to Chris as "Uncle".

Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, September 15, 2025, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, 2553 Lexington Avenue, Mansfield, Ohio 44904, where his funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Hank Webb. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Park.

To celebrate and share in Chris' love of sports; friends, family and guests are invited to wear their favorite sports shirt or jersey to the visitation and funeral.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to assist the Oakley family with funeral expenses. Checks may be made payable to Snyder Funeral Homes.
