Chris W. Runyon

Chris Wesley Runyon, 66, of Lanesville, Indiana passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on May 17, 2025 at Baptist Floyd Hospital. The family will host visitation at Naville & Seabrook Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 with a funeral service to follow on Thursday, May 22, 2025.
Born in New Albany, Indiana on July 29,1958, Chris grew up in Utica, Indiana and proudly wore the title of a River Rat. He served as a lifetime Tow Boat Captain before retiring to enjoy time with his family and friends. He was a lifetime member of St Luke's United Church of Christ in Jeffersonville, Indiana and an associate member of St Mary Catholic Church in Lanesville, Indiana.
Chris loved spending summers on Lake Cumberland, playing board games, fishing, hunting, riding his motorcycle and most of all spending precious time with his loved ones. His true joy in life was his grandchildren!
Chris is proceeded in death by his mother Marcella Amacher Runyon and his father James Runyon. He is survived by his loving wife, Laura Becht Runyon of 40 years, his children Christoph Runyon (Melea), Kena Portukalian (Jonathan), Renee Light (Josh), his brother Timothy Runyon and his grandchildren Logan Belle Runyon and Edward Portukalian. Chris is also survived by multiple nieces and nephews, chosen children and grandchildren as well as many friends and extended family.
Chris will be remembered for his kindness, unwavering integrity, and his love of Jesus and his family. His laughter and wisdom were gifts to everyone who knew him. Whether you knew him as Chris, Dad, Grunt or Poppy, you loved him.
Friends and family are invited to Naville & Seabrook Funeral Homes Oak Street Chapel (1846 E. Oak Street, New Albany, IN) on May 21, from 1-8 PM for visitation and May 22 from 8:30 AM- 10:00 AM for visitation with the funeral to follow at 10 AM.
