Christi Meyer Ganey, 54, of Bossier City, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, November 9, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on September 19, 1971, in Shreveport, Louisiana, Christi was a devoted wife, mother, “Gigi,” sister, daughter, and friend. Her warm spirit, strength, and love for others touched countless lives and will be forever remembered.

Christi graduated from Captain Shreve High School in 1989 and continued her education at Louisiana State University–Shreveport, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in education. She later went on to complete her master’s degree in counseling, dedicating her life to helping and guiding others with compassion, empathy, and wisdom.

Christi taught for nine years in the Caddo and Bossier Parish school systems, where she inspired students with her dedication and love of learning. In 2007, she fulfilled her lifelong dream when she opened Cypress Run Child Development Center, a Christian-based preschool, where she touched the lives of countless children and families throughout the community. For Christi, this was never just a job; it was her passion.

Even after she was diagnosed with cancer in April 2024, Christi never felt sorry for herself. She faced every challenge with grace and strength, continuing to show concern for others and offering kindness and encouragement to those around her.

Although Christi’s life was cut short, she and Rick lived it to the fullest. There were many things she loved to do in her free time, but first and foremost, she adored her grandchildren and loved to spoil them every chance she could. She also loved to travel; most of her favorite destinations were tropical, but she especially treasured their trips to Colorado, where she and Rick built their second home. Anyone who knew Christi knew she was the queen of shopping, always finding joy in the perfect find and sharing it with those she loved.

Growing up, Christi had a very special relationship with her grandmother, lovingly known as “Mawmaw.” As a child, Mawmaw was much more than just her grandmother; she was Christi’s best friend. It brought her family comfort that Christi passed away on Mawmaw’s birthday, a tender reminder of the deep bond they shared.

Christi was saved as a teenager, and her faith in Jesus Christ remained strong throughout her life. That faith gave her strength, peace, and purpose, especially during her illness, and guided every act of love and kindness she showed to others.

On Sunday night at 8:48 p.m., Christi peacefully entered her eternal home in Heaven. Shortly after, a very fitting Bible verse was shared with the family.

Luke 8:48 – “Then he said to her, ‘Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.’”

Above all, Christi’s greatest joy came from her family. She was a loving and supportive wife, mother, and “Gigi,” and nothing brought her more happiness than time spent with those she loved most.

Christi is survived by her loving husband of more than 30 years, Rick Ganey; her beloved children, Alex Ganey and wife, Macie; Mallory Elliott and husband, Dylan; Morgan Bell and husband, Walker; and stepdaughter, Nicole Freeland and husband, Chris; her adored grandchildren, Creede and Conley Ganey, Foster “Fozzy” and Greer Elliott, Sutton Bell, and Stella and Hadley Freeland; her sister, Karen Allen; her brother, Clay Meyer and wife, Kelly; her brother-in-law, Frank Ganey and wife, Darla; her mother, Barbara Partain Meyer; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who loved her deeply.

She was preceded in death by her father, Clyde L. Meyer; father-in-law, Ben D. Ganey; mother-in-law, Lisa Ganey Cook; and brother-in-law, Mark Allen.

Funeral services celebrating Christi’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Airline Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Rose-Neath. Cemetery in Bossier City, Louisiana. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the church. Officiating the service will be Reverend Terry Young and Reverend Harold Shelton.

Pallbearers will be Dylan Elliott, Walker Bell, Kevin Dyer, Pat Booker, Randy Johnson, and Kyle Steed. Honorary Pallbearers will be Drew Allen, Clay Meyer, Greg Morris, and Frank Ganey.

Christi’s faith, love, and laughter will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
