Christian had a deep love for working on old cars, a passion he shared with his father and brother. His enthusiasm for Mopars was well-known, and he spent countless hours building and restoring cars. He also enjoyed the thrill of motorcycles and cherished the time spent traveling with family, often attending car shows and Mopar events. Christian found joy in fishing with his dear friend Corey White and four-wheeling with friends, creating memories that will be treasured by all who knew him.
He was a devoted uncle to his niece, Layla, and took great pride in being part of her life. Christian's warmth and generosity extended to his family and friends, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts.
Christian is preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Cale Hayes; cousin, Maggie Randall Story; grandfather, Cecil Johnson Goodwin; grandmother, Shirley Jean Goodwin; grandfather, Alvin Upchurch Hayes grandmother, Jean Crews Hayes; and uncle, Robert Hayes.
He is survived by his loving parents, Tonya Goodwin Hayes and Thomas Alvin Hayes; his aunt, Renee Story (Randy); his cherished niece, Layla Michelle Hayes; and his cousins, Brandi Story, Hayden Randall Fawcett, Brooke Shepherd (Stephen), John Hayes (April), Blake Shepherd, and Kinsley Hayes. He is also survived by his aunt, Diane Hayes, along with numerous other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Services to honor Christian's life will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at Bethany Baptist Church in Rougemont, NC. Visitation will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Durham.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hospital in Greenville, SC, in Christian's memory. His spirit and love for life will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
