Senior Airman Christian Shayne West, 24, was taken from this life on Sunday, November 19, 2023 after his battle with Acute Pancreatitis Necrosis. Christian was stationed at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, Kansas. He was born in Pitt County to Shayne West and Kristy Lee West on December 13, 1998.
Christian was full of drive and enjoyed a challenge. He didn't back down from hard work. Many of the ways he lived were taught to him by his granddaddy, Dan West. Dan was an important example for Christian and helped him to develop and grow into the man he became. Family time was always a priority. It could be playing the XBOX or simply sitting around the table, he didn't want to miss an opportunity to be with his family and friends.
Christian was a 2018 graduate of C.B. Aycock High School and served with the Northeast Fire Department. He loved to be outdoors, from hunting to fishing. These were times for him to relax and enjoy what was all around him. He sought to see more of the world when he joined the United States Air Force on September 25, 2019. He proudly served his country as an aircraft mechanic.
Christian's life was way too short, but his impact spreads far and wide.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 26, 2023 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home. A service to celebrate Christian's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 27, 2023 in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home. Interment with full military honors will be held at the Eureka Cemetery.
Christian is survived by his father, Shayne West (Niki); mother, Kristy Lee West (Timothy Worley); sister, Jessica West Smith (Seth); Matthew West (Cari), Sean Simmons, Joshua West (Kensey), Christian Tincher (Cheyenne), Charlie Worley and Joshua Worley; and nephews, Finlee West, Hudson West, Lucas Smith and was anticipating the birth of Baby Boy West, son of Joshua and Kensey. He is also survived by his grandparents, Dan West, Jo West, Timothy Boykin, Pamela Thigpen and Mike Thigpen. Christian enjoyed time with his friends, SSGT Cooper Snyder and wife, Alexis and was most proud of being the god father to their son, Silas. Christian's K-9 friend and companion, Pepper, was a mini-dachshund he enjoyed at home, work or just about anywhere he could carry her.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials being made to #22 A DAY Military Movement.
Services are entrusted to Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.seymourfuneralhome.com.
