Christine C. McNulty 83, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side at her home on January 28, 2025. She was the loving wife of Daniel J. McNulty III; they had been married for 59 years. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Evelyn (McComb) Sprague. Besides her husband, she is survived by her loving son Ryan McNulty.
Christine was a wonderful wife, mother, and teacher who, after graduating from URI in 1963, worked in the Warwick public school system for 33 years. She mostly taught 1st grade, and was at Park Elementary for 20 of those years. Even after retiring in 1996, she continued to volunteer in schools for more than a decade, both at Park and at Matunuck Elementary School in South Kingstown. She truly loved teaching and was really good at her job, many times being recognized for her excellence, as well as for being a mentor to other educators and parents. But she always focused on the children in her classes, as they were the most important thing to her.
She grew up in Providence and then Warwick, where she went to Greenwood School (where she later returned to teach!), Lockwood Junior High, and then Warwick Vets High School. She also met her husband Dan in Warwick, where they lived on Bunker Street for a few years after getting married, before moving down to Narragansett where they lived for more than 30 years. She loved living in South County because she loved the beach, having many wonderful memories of summers spent on Roy Carpenter's Beach in Matunuck as a child.
She also loved to travel, going on many summer vacation trips as a family when Ryan was younger, and on even more adventures with Dan after she retired. But more than all the rest, she loved her family. She was especially close to her father Ernie, moved from Narragansett to Warwick to take care of her mother Evelyn as she grew older, and travelled down South many times to visit her sister Diane and her family in South Carolina. She loved and was very proud of her son Ryan, who followed in her footsteps to become a teacher. And she was happily married to the love of her life Dan for 59 years – they were always there for one another and they were the best thing that ever happened to each other.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday February 4, 2025, at 1 p.m. in the Carpenter Jenks Funeral Home, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick, her visitation will be on Monday February 3, 2025, from 3 to 5 p.m. The burial will be in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations to VOWS (Volunteers of Warwick Schools), a group who works to help Warwick public school students, something that Christine loved doing for her whole career.
