Christine Elva Moncibaiz, 51, of Abilene, Texas, passed away on July 22, 2025. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 25, 2025, also at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel.
Christine was born on September 2, 1973, in Abilene, Texas, to Joe and Elva Castillo. She grew up in Tye, Texas, and attended school in Merkel, Texas. For many years, she worked as a dedicated phlebotomist serving the Big Country community.
Known for her sense of humor, Christine was often the life of the party. She was unapologetically honest and had a blunt, straightforward nature that endeared her to many. She loved music, dancing, and singing—her joy was contagious to those around her.
Above all, Christine’s greatest love was her family. She cherished her children and adored her grandchildren, always putting them first in her life.
She is preceded in death by two children, Aubrey Mendez, and Omar Guajardo; and one grandchild, Mila Mendez.
Christine is survived by her parents, Joe and Elva Castillo; her children, Jacob Mendez and wife Mekel, and Justice Moncibaiz; her grandchildren, Jacoby Mendez, Julius Reeves, and Xavier Kynard; her siblings, Joe Castillo Jr., and Jessica Castillo; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
