Christopher Mark Andres, known affectionately as Chris, passed away on August 15, 2024, at the age of 66 in Port Saint Lucie, FL, surrounded by the love of his family and friends. Born on July 15, 1958, in Sandusky, OH, he was a cherished son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Chris's journey through life was marked by dedication, service, and the joy he brought to those around him.
His legacy is cherished by his beloved wife, Gina Lynn (Cutteridge) Andres, his children, Thomas (Kim) Andres and Katherine Lynn (Andres) Barton, and his adored grandsons, Caden Andres and Grayson Barton. His love extended to his siblings, Anthony Andres and Dorothy (Andres) Osborn, his sister-in-law, Suzanne Andres, and numerous nieces and nephews. Chris was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Patricia Andres, his brothers Dennis and Patrick Andres, and his brother-in-law, Charles Osborn.
An alumnus of Saint Mary's Central Catholic High School and a graduate of Saint Leo's University with a Bachelor's degree, Chris further pursued his Master's degree from Old Dominion University. A man of discipline and dedication, he proudly served his country as a Submariner for over 20 years in the US Navy. After retiring from active duty in 2001, Chris continued to offer his expertise as a Structural Engineering Technician for the Department of the Navy, supporting naval ships and submarines globally.
An avid softball player, he brought both competitive spirit and camaraderie to the field, playing in national tournaments during his time with the Navy. Chris's dedication to his community was unparalleled. He was a lifelong volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America, notably serving as Aquatics Director at Camp Lions, and working as a staff member for the Disability Awareness Experience at the 1997 National Boy Scout Jamboree. His involvement with the US Submarine Veterans of World War II, particularly in the "Tolling of the Boats" ceremonies, demonstrated his deep respect for those who served before him. An active participant in veteran organizations after settling in Florida, Chris's selflessness and commitment to service shone brightly. His greatest joy was spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Those who knew Chris will remember a man of generous spirit, loving heart, and a sense of humor that could light up any room. Chris's kindness and laughter will long be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
In every aspect of his life, Chris was always there for others, a true friend who expected nothing in return. His generosity, love for his family, and dedication to his country are the hallmarks of a life well-lived. It is with heavy hearts that we bid farewell to Chris, a man who made the world a better place by simply being in it. As we commemorate his remarkable life, we take solace in knowing that his spirit lives on through the many lives he touched.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to benefit the youth of tomorrow and for veterans in need may be made to the American Legion, Post #318, 1000 Savanna Club Boulevard, Port St. Lucie, FL 34952.

Gina, you and Chris were such valuable members of Scouting in Tidewater Council. You both did so much serving PAVAB, way back when. I am so sorry to read of Chris passing, and offer my prayers and a virtual hug to you.
